Terms of Service
Last updated: July 25, 2026
Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using lybr (the "Site," "we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account or otherwise using the Site, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.
1. lybr Is Not a Law Firm — Please Read This Section First
lybr is not a law firm, does not provide legal advice, and is not a substitute for a licensed attorney. We do not review your specific legal matter, we do not represent you in any proceeding, and no attorney-client relationship is formed by your use of the Site, by creating an account, or by any communication with us.
The Site provides self-help legal information, plain-language explanations of Colorado family law procedure, court-form templates, and AI-generated summaries of published legal-research materials, for general informational and educational purposes only. This information is not tailored to your specific situation and should not be relied upon as a substitute for advice from a licensed attorney admitted to practice in your jurisdiction.
AI-generated content. Some content on the Site (including guidance you request through features labeled "AI guidance" or similar) is generated using a third-party artificial intelligence service based on legal-research materials that may not have completed our internal human review process. AI-generated content can be incomplete, out of date, or simply wrong. It is not legal advice, is not reviewed by an attorney before being shown to you, and should be independently verified — especially before relying on it for a filing deadline, a court appearance, or any decision with legal consequences.
If your situation involves domestic violence or safety concerns, complex assets, business ownership, significant debt, a contested custody dispute, or a represented opposing party, we strongly encourage you to consult a licensed family law attorney. Colorado Legal Services and your local Family Court Facilitator (linked in the Site's footer) are resources for finding or affording an attorney.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and capable of forming a binding contract to use the Site. By using the Site, you represent that you meet these requirements.
3. Your Account
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity under your account. Notify us promptly at legal@lybr.org if you suspect unauthorized use of your account. You agree to provide accurate information when creating an account.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to: use the Site for any unlawful purpose; attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Site or its underlying systems; interfere with the Site's operation (including through excessive automated requests); reverse-engineer or scrape the Site's content for commercial redistribution; or misrepresent your identity or affiliation.
5. Court Forms and Filings
Court forms, deadlines, and procedural information on the Site reflect our understanding of Colorado court rules and published court forms, which can change. You are solely responsible for verifying, before filing anything with a court, that you are using the current version of any form and that you are meeting all applicable deadlines and requirements. Always confirm current requirements with the applicable court or a licensed attorney.
6. Fees
The Site is currently provided free of charge. We may introduce paid features in the future; if we do, we will present pricing clearly before you are charged for anything.
7. Intellectual Property
The Site's design, text, software, and compiled content are owned by lybr or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. You may use the Site's content for your own personal, non-commercial purposes in connection with your own legal matter. You may not republish, redistribute, or sell the Site's content.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SITE AND ALL CONTENT ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that any information on the Site is complete, current, or applicable to your situation.
9. Limitation of Liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, LYBR AND ITS OPERATORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SITE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SITE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US, IF ANY, IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100).
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold lybr harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your use of the Site or your violation of these Terms.
11. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Site at any time, with or without notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is otherwise harmful to the Site or other users. You may stop using the Site and request deletion of your account at any time by emailing legal@lybr.org.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles.
13. Dispute Resolution — Binding Arbitration and Class Action Waiver
Please read this section carefully — it affects your legal rights, including your right to sue in court.
Except for claims that qualify for small claims court, or claims for injunctive relief related to intellectual property or unauthorized access, you and lybr agree to resolve any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Site through final and binding arbitration, rather than in court, except that you may assert claims in small claims court if your claims qualify. The arbitration will be conducted by a single arbitrator under the rules of the American Arbitration Association ("AAA") applicable to consumer disputes, and will take place in, or be conducted remotely with a default venue of, Colorado.
Class action waiver. You and lybr agree that any dispute resolution proceedings will be conducted only on an individual basis and not in a class, consolidated, or representative action.
Opt-out right. You may opt out of this arbitration agreement by emailing legal@lybr.org within 30 days of first creating an account, stating that you decline to be bound by it. If you opt out, neither you nor lybr will be required to arbitrate disputes with each other under this section.
This arbitration clause is a standard template provision and, like the rest of these Terms, has not yet been reviewed by a licensed attorney on our behalf. We are in the process of having these Terms formally reviewed.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated Terms on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Site after a change becomes effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
